Osteopathic Manual Medicine, or OMM/OMT is hands-on care. It involves using the hands to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. Using OMM/OMT, I will move your muscles and joints, tendons, ligaments, bones, and soft tissues, using certain techniques to heal acute and chronic strains and thus your musculoskeletal system. This in turn brings the nervous system, lymphatic system, muscles, and joints into balance.
Who Can Benefit From OMM/OMT
The treatment can be used to ease pain, promote healing, increase overall mobility, improve organ, lymphatic flow, and immune function. Omm can help with health problems such as:
- sinus disorders
- carpal tunnel syndrome
- neck and back pain
- respiratory symptoms
When appropriate, OMM can complement, and even replace, drugs or surgery. In this way, OMM brings an important dimension to standard medical care. In other words, it provides you with an integrative medicine approach to health care.
What is postural balance?
Postural balance is using OMM, musculoskeletal examination, and X-ray measurement to correct postural imbalances that are inherent in many people.
For example, many people have an imbalance in limb length, pelvic height, or foot imbalance. This imbalance is often the cause of chronic pain that is manifested as foot and ankle pain, back pain, neck pain, and headaches.
