What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a natural way to promote healing and function within the body. The Chinese have used it for over 2000 years to treat common medical problems.

This is done by insertion of small needles at specific points on the body including the ear to move “stuck” energy through the body. This is referred to as moving Qi pronounced “chi”. Once this energy is brought into balance, pain and other physical and psychological disorders come into balance and heal.

The healing can be seen as an increase in the body’s energy production, circulation, and improved pain modulation. This improved energy flow and physiological balance results in the body’s natural healing to promote physical and emotional well-being.

In medical acupuncture, we combine our western medical training with the ancient art of acupuncture to address the “whole” person. This is the integrative medical approach.

  • Insomnia and jet lag

I combine OMM (please see the OMM page) with medical acupuncture to help ameliorate certain medical conditions when appropriate.

Please keep in mind, everyone responds differently to acupuncture. It may take several treatments for satisfactory resolution of pain or other conditions such as depression and PTSD. The longer someone has an ailment, the longer it may take to unravel the problem and heal the core strain or trauma, either physically and or emotionally. My goal is to help you find that core issue and unravel the trauma.
